Night Dunes is a skincare company in Calgary. A short list of products, chosen rather than invented, and described as plainly as we can manage.
We do not own a laboratory
We are not chemists and we would rather not pretend. Night Dunes does not formulate its own products. They are made by contract manufacturers, which is how most of the skincare you have ever bought was made, including a fair amount of it sold at several times these prices.
What we do is choose. We read the ingredient list before the marketing copy, we decline the formulas we cannot explain, and we publish the full ingredient list on every product page so you can read it too.
What that looks like in practice
It looks like correcting ourselves in public. The Nourish Hand Cream was described here for months as a shea butter product. Shea is seventeenth on its list. Sunflower seed oil is third, and sunflower is the more interesting ingredient anyway. We rewrote the page rather than quietly hoping nobody checked.
It looks like not selling you a sunscreen. We do not make one. Rather than offer something adjacent, we will tell you to go and buy a proper one from somebody who does.
The things we will not tell you
These are cosmetics. They cleanse, they hydrate, they change how skin looks and feels. They do not repair, reverse or renew, and where the evidence behind an ingredient is thin we say so rather than borrowing confidence from a study that does not exist.
If a product has a cooling tingle, that is a sensory effect and we will call it one. If a claim needs a qualifier, it gets the qualifier.
Why the evening
Most of what skin does, it does while you are not watching. The collection is built around that: a few considered steps at the end of the day, in an order that makes sense, with nothing in it that exists only to lengthen the routine.
We would rather sell you a few things you finish than a shelf of things you forget.
